Eerie Abandoned Disney Attractions You Never Knew Existed

Remembering Walt Disney World’s Osceola-Class Ships

Walt Disney World’s water-based transportation system has always been a unique feature of the resort, with various modes of travel available. Among them were the Osceola-Class ships—Southern Seas, and Ports-O-Call. Both were built in 1969, and these 100-foot-long vessels were modeled after the Francis Skiddy steamer of the gold rush era.

Sadly, the Ports-O-Call was scrapped in 1984, and the Southern Seas in 1977. Disney built another version of the latter as a replacement, though only for convention-based traffic. But that, too, was eventually dry-docked and abandoned in 1997. Despite their short lives, these unique vessels remain fondly remembered by Disney enthusiasts.
