Eerie Abandoned Disney Attractions You Never Knew Existed
The Rise and Fall of Gulliver’s Kingdom
Do you remember “Gulliver’s Travels,” the classic novel originally published in the 18th century? Well, armed with that story, a Japanese theme park opened in 1997 near Mount Fuji called Gulliver’s Kingdom. Its main attraction was a giant 147-foot statue of Gulliver tied down by the Lilliputians, just as he was in the book.
However, the park’s location near Japan’s infamous Suicide Forest and the former headquarters of a doomsday cult is believed to have caused a lack of visitors. With only two rides available, a bobsled run and a railway, the park was abandoned in 2001 and demolished in 2007.
