The Legendary Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is a legendary attraction that has thrilled guests for decades. This simulated freefall drop tower ride is based on the classic TV series “The Twilight Zone” and fictitiously takes place inside the abandoned Hollywood Tower Hotel. Guests experienced the events of the fateful Halloween night of 1939, when lightning struck the hotel, causing several wings to vanish and killing five people.
The Tower of Terror’s exterior adds to its eerie ambiance with a vast, blackened scorch mark across the front of the façade and exposed elevator doors. Technically, this attraction still exists, but Disney replaced the California ride version in 2017.
