Eerie Abandoned Disney Attractions You Never Knew Existed
The Haunting Remains of Six Flags New Orleans
Once a thriving theme park, Six Flags New Orleans now sits abandoned and in disrepair. The place opened in 2000 as Jazzland, but after the previous operator’s bankruptcy, Six Flags invested $20 million in upgrades and reopened it in 2003. However, Hurricane Katrina caused severe damage, and the park was closed permanently in 2009.
Some of the rides were later salvaged, and the Industrial Development Board of New Orleans now owns the property, but redevelopment plans keep failing. The city occasionally rents the park as a filming location, but its fate remains uncertain, leaving a haunting reminder of the devastation caused by the natural disaster.
