Eerie Abandoned Disney Attractions You Never Knew Existed
The Futuristic Disney Attraction That Became a Resting Spot
In 1967 Tomorrowland began offering an attraction called PeopleMover, which transported guests on little trains running on elevated tracks for a grand circle tour. The invention was initially seen as a prototype for intercity public transport, and it featured continuous audio commentary and soundtracks for guests throughout the ride.
Unfortunately, there were several accidents, beginning with one death after just a month of its opening. The attraction eventually closed in 1995 and became a place for guests to rest their feet. In 2008, the Disney·Pixar movie “WALL-E” paid it tribute by featuring a similarly named transportation system, including the ride’s iconic circular boarding station.
