Eerie Abandoned Disney Attractions You Never Knew Existed
A Reminder of the Chornobyl Disaster
The appearance of the Pripyat Amusement Park, located within the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, still depicts the horrors of the nuclear disaster that occurred in 1986. Despite being built for the May Day celebrations, the park was never officially opened due to the tragedy. However, it briefly operated the morning before authorities gave the evacuation notice.
Considering radiation in the place, that decision was not wise. The park featured an 85 feet Ferris wheel, swing boats, a paratrooper ride, bumper cars, and a shooting game. Today, it sits empty and decaying. Various rides are now covered in rust and peeling paint, while the surroundings still contain high radiation levels.
