Janine Turner is an American actress, producer, director, and author who started her career as a model at the age of fifteen. After acting a few roles she did not like, Turner left Hollywood for New York to seek a role that would portray women more positively. Just when she had become frustrated and down to her last eight dollars in 1990, she got her breakthrough role as Maggie O’Connell in “Northern Exposure.”

Turner’s role in “Northern Exposure” got her three Golden Globe Award nominations and one Emmy Award nomination. She made other iconic movies like “Cliffhanger” in 1993 and many others before “Solace” in 2015. She has written four books and is a top activist and advocate. She is still active as an actress as her most recent role was in the 2019 TV movie titled “Patsy & Loretta.”
