Eerie Abandoned Disney Attractions You Never Knew Existed

The Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland

The Mine Train Through Nature’s Wonderland was a narrow-gauge railroad attraction in Disneyland’s Frontierland that ran from 1960 to 1977. The ride featured audio-animatronic animals in natural desert and woods-themed environments. Before returning to the station, guests boarded a train at the fictional Western town Rainbow Ridge, which took them through several wonders, including the Rainbow Caverns.

Due to the growing popularity of thrill rides, the attraction was closed to make way for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which opened in 1979. Decades later, “Nature’s Wonderland,” an episode of “Mickey Mouse,” was released in 2017, with its story made in homage to the defunct attraction.
