Eerie Abandoned Disney Attractions You Never Knew Existed

Horizons: A Disney Dark Ride

Horizons, the now-extinct attraction at Epcot, was the quintessential Disney dark ride of the ’80s and ’90s. It opened in October 1983 and showcased the park’s Omnimover system, which took visitors through a journey of futuristic life. Guests had the unique option of selecting their paths, whether through cities, deserts, under the sea, or even space.

The attraction was the only ride in Future World that presented all of Epcot’s future world elements, like communication, energy, transportation, anatomy, and humanity’s relationship to the land and sea. Although the place closed permanently on January 9, 1999, it still retains a sizable cult following.
