But the 50-year-old secret that was kept in this couple’s cellar was anything but typical. The Ohio couple, like most homeowners, had probably had great things in mind for their newly purchased Cleveland home.

They took on an amazing project, and couldn’t wait to start the process. Why didn’t the previous owners discover it?

A Reddit User and His New Home

A man who went by the Reddit pseudonym Branik12 purchased a Greater Cleveland Area fixer-upper. We’ll refer to Branik12 as Paul for the duration of this piece. It wouldn’t be his first time remodeling a home because he’s a DIY freak.

He and his wife wanted to give their new home a total makeover and the pair started by refurbishing the major living areas on the first and second floors before moving to the basement of the house. Confident in their remodeling skills, they couldn’t have foreseen the dramatic developments that took place. Strange indicators started to surface as they started to demolish the basement’s existing construction.
